A note on social media and why I’ve left.

I have very clear and specific reasons for doing so, and maybe this post will help guide you in your own internet path to truth and what you really need to thrive.  For the past decade or more, I used all the major social media outlets to promote my art work and my classes. I was able to connect with hundreds of people and sold as many works via these social media outlets, and I guess on some level it was good business for the time being.  But many things changed with the pandemic, along with big tech and also with the current political leadership in the US. I found that more and more people were using these platforms to rant more than rave and that the social scene became more and more catty, more about getting these things called “likes,” heaven forbid you get a “dislike,” which for all the time I used to spend on these platforms, that time did not always translate to dollars.  And we haven’t even gotten to the unbelievable level of censorship that keeps happening all around us, which is increasing in scale on a daily basis.  That is painfully frightening to me, and I just can’t stomach being on platforms that pick and choose what they think is ok, while silencing any and everything they don’t agree with.

Most people don’t seem to care or to bother even to ask “why” or is it even “ok” that these things are happening. I don’t need everyone to agree on a certain point of view or a certain political stance, but it would seem important on some level that our country’s constitution is upheld to some level, otherwise we are no different than any other nation on the planet.

I finally and most recently left YouTube after more than a decade, because I have become tired of being part of that big machine. I’m tired of watching some people get censored while others don’t.  And most times, it’s all about money and politics and that makes me sad. If we don’t have varying opinions, we are just one big monster controlled by that one or two big entities, and that doesn’t look like anything American to me.

So, if you’d like to connect or see what I’m up to these days, just look no further than this website. Or give me a call on the telephone like people used to do before all this crazy technology. I will still have videos on Rumble and Vimeo while these sites prove to be following a free and fair marketplace. I hope 2022 is kinder and gentler to all of us, and may you find a friendlier and more fair space to engage online. Enjoys!
