Out of all the craziness that this new life seems to bring to us all in a “post-COVID” era, one of my greatest joys was taking on the new challenge of “painting big.” In January of 2022, I felt a bit discouraged, maybe a bit bored with my painting, and I needed a new challenge.  Kurt Lucas, of JKL Design Group, encouraged me to increase the scale of my work, as big as the studio would allow for.  With the help of a family friend, we built a 12 ft. x 12 ft. temporary wall in the warehouse of JKL. I ordered an enormous roll of primed canvas, and got to work. By the end of the year, I was able to complete 5 oil paintings which were all quite sizeable, mostly 9.5′ x 10′.  Even with the largest of paintings my framer (god bless him for finding solutions for making frames as big as he has been able to) had to use a forklift to move them at his shop! Please enjoy these images of those grand paintings of 2022 from the design showroom at JKL, to my studio, to the framer!

May you all have a blessed, safe and prosperous new year! (And call me if you need a really big painting)…
